Holiday weeks
Flint runs on most holidays, and names the short list that changes. The city's published rule: When a service day falls on or after a holiday, services move to the following business day. The holidays that affect the schedule are New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day; a holiday on a weekend does not change service.
The dates below are the federal holidays left this year, with what the city's own calendar does in each of those weeks.

How days are assigned
Priority Waste's City of Flint pickup-day map, which the City's Sanitation page shows, paints the whole city in five areas, one for each weekday from Monday to Friday; the lookup reads the area for your address.
Trash is collected weekly. Trash, compost and recycling go out on the same day. The map is an area map without street detail, so an address near a line between two days' areas or near the city line, or on a block that had no homes in the 2020 census, gets no day rather than a guess. Elsewhere it answers any point in an area, so the day is for curbside residential cart service: businesses, apartment complexes on dumpster service and industrial sites arrange their own collection. Flint Township, Burton, Genesee Township and Mt Morris Township collect separately.
