Valdosta runs on most holidays, and names the short list that changes. The city's published rule: The Sanitation Division collects residential garbage on holidays except Christmas Day and New Year's Day, the only two holidays its crews take off. In the City's latest notice (December 2024), routes before the holiday ran as usual, Christmas Eve included, and the holiday's route and every later route that week moved one day; earlier notices collected the holiday's route on the next collection day along with that day's own. Check the City's December notice for this year's schedule. On other holidays the City collects only household garbage; its Residential Sanitation Services page says junk items and yard waste are collected the following business day.

The dates below are the federal holidays left this year, with what the city's own calendar does in each of those weeks.

The City of Valdosta's sanitation routes map divides the city into areas collected on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday; the lookup reads the area for your address.

Trash is collected weekly. The Residential Sanitation Division also collects yard trash, on the garbage day, and bulk items; Valdosta has no curbside recycling. The map dates from 2016 and answers any point in an area, so the day is for residential service; commercial sanitation is a separate City service.

Some newer streets are missing from the map. For an address the map does not cover we say so rather than guess a day.
