Nothing may go to the curb in Sterling Heights before 1 p.m. the day ahead, and all refuse must be out by 7 a.m. on collection day.

Carts are set at the curb with the lid opening facing the street and lids closed to avoid littering and rodent access, and no items may be placed in the street itself.

Weight limits differ by cart: the 95-gallon refuse cart tops out at 60 pounds, while 95-gallon yard waste carts allow 100 pounds and 30-gallon paper bags 50.

Missed pickups, complaints, and bulk or yard waste requests are submitted through the contracted hauler's online service request portal.
