How collection works
How trash collection works in Murrieta.
Murrieta provides trash, recycling and special-waste services to residents through a contract with Waste Management (866-909-4458). Trash service with the franchise hauler is mandatory.
Weekly collection starts at 6 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Containers may go to the curb up to 24 hours before pickup and must be removed from the right-of-way within 12 hours after collection. Residents who do not want service may apply for a self-haul permit, which costs $20 a year.
Regular collection of trash, recyclables and yard waste is delayed one day in the week of a holiday Waste Management observes: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
