How trash collection works in Clarkstown.
Outside the Villages of Upper Nyack and Spring Valley, household (kitchen) garbage in the Town of Clarkstown is collected twice a week by the Town's contracted carter, on one of three day pairs: Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Friday, or Wednesday and Saturday.
Each 1-, 2- or 3-family home is issued one official sticker by the Tax Assessor for its garbage container; the carter does not have to take unstickered pails, a container may hold no more than 60 lbs, and the Town's contract provides side-door pickup up to 125 feet from the street.
Bulk pickup is monthly, by your carter on the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday that matches your regular garbage day; the Town's schedule does not apply to the Villages of Upper Nyack and Spring Valley.
There is no garbage or recycling collection on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and twice the normal quantity is collected on your next pickup day.
